ORGAN & TISSUE DONATION.....we have all heard of it. You may even know someone who has received one. Or someone who has been a living donor. Or someone who was a donor after death.
But do you really know or understand what is involved in all of this?
I do. I am a double lung recipient thanks to a generous young lady. She lives on through me. I was born with cystic fibrosis. At the age of 33, my lungs were giving out. Almost 20 years later, I am still going strong and want to help others have a second chance at life.
We are a non profit here for two purposes.....First to help educate on this very important topic, and second to help raise money for the donation process andCcystic Fibrosis research. We research when making major purchases and this is no different. It is important to have information and facts to make important decisions.
There is absolutely no cost to the family when a loved one donates their tissue and organs. The funds raised through our 501c3 will help benefit the donation process as well as those with Cystic Fibrosis via research and those going through a transplant. Please read on....
Many people don’t fully understand how the donation process works and have misconceptions that may prevent them from registering as organ and tissue donors. The process of donation is carefully regulated for patient safety, and conducted with the utmost respect for donors and their families.
All of this happens through Gift of Life Michigan (or what individual states call their organ procurement organization).
